Color Confidence Class #6 - continued

OK, so I just could not stop there. I really wanted to do something for my kids. We love to watch Mamma Mia. I decided I would make a Mamma Mia quilt using all the songs from the soundtrack as the inspiration. Mamma had too much fun shopping for the fabics for this one. It was a challenge, but it was worth it.

Color Confidence # 6 - Visualization

This class we had to pick a memory, person, or a story. We needed to pick fabrics that told a story about that person or memory or create a landscape of the memory. I ended up picking my dad for the person. I made this wallhanging for a Christmas present.

Here is his story...He is proud to be an American. He loves sports, all sports: football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and Nascar. His favorite teams are Vikings, Twins, Lobos, Golden Gophers and Dale Jarett. He is from Minnesota and loves to fish and hunt. He was in the Air Force. He sells produce. He loves his grandkids and always has the paper with the sports section close by. He loves to play pool every Friday night. Miller Lite is a big part of his character. I could not find fabric with this logo, so I bought a button down shirt and used the fabric from that. I also could not find Lobo material, so I had to print my own. It is kinda crazy, but so is he, ha ha. Love you DAD!

Color Confidence Class # 5 - Inspiration

This class we were to take an object and pull colors from that object and create our quilt. I picked the very first art piece that my 5 year old daughter did at her art class. She also did and inspiration piece, she chose to recreate a piece by Frank Stella. Dottie added glitter to her piece, so I added red gems. It was fun. This design was called Trip Around the World.

Color Confidence Class #4 - Contrast

For this class we had to pick three contrasting colors.  The book suggested red, yellow, and blue.  I just could not bring myself to do this, so my teacher suggested purple, orange, and green.  I was much happier with this selection.  I was not too sure about the Cake Stand Block, but it grew on me.

Color Confidence Class #3 - Value Recognition

This class was made using Granny Squares.  I decided to tie knot this quilt since my Grandmother always quilted this way.  I did not use a loft batting, so this method was very hard to do.  But I did it.

Color Confidence Class #2 Color Enrichment

For this class we had to pick two colors.  I picked pink and green.  This wall hanging is now in the "PIG" bathroom.  This quilt design is called Broken Dishes.
